# DELETE /api/v2/drive-folders/{drive_folder}

Delete a drive folder

- MCP id: drive-folders.destroy
- Scope: api:destroy:project_drive
- Scope: api:destroy:customer_drive
- Scope: api:destroy:organization_drive
- Scope: api:destroy:user_drive
- Permission: project_drive::create
- Rate cost: 1 unit, write bucket.
- Cache-Control: private, no-store

Permanently deletes an empty drive folder.

A folder holding a live drive item or a subfolder answers `409` `has_children`: plnnrly deletes any folder and moves its contents up, and the API deliberately does not, so move or delete the contents first. A folder is hard-deleted, so there is no restore and `force` is not an accepted parameter. One consequence worth planning for: only live items count, so a folder holding nothing but archived items is deletable, and those archived items land at the drive root rather than in this folder's parent. The declared permission is `project_drive::create`, the same permission as editing and a superset of what the record rule checks: `{owner}_drive::access` plus edit access on the folder.

## Parameters
- drive_folder (integer, path): The DriveFolder's numeric id.
- X-Request-Id (header, optional): A correlation id of your own. It is recorded in our logs next to the server's request id but never returned: the response header always carries the server's id. A value that does not match the pattern is discarded silently, never rejected.
- If-Match (header, optional): The ETag a write is conditional on. A stale validator is 412 precondition-failed.
