# PATCH /api/v2/holidays/{holiday}

Update a holiday

- MCP id: holidays.update
- Scope: api:write:holidays
- Permission: holidays::manage
- Rate cost: 1 unit, write bucket. A write costs the same whatever `view` you ask for.
- Cache-Control: private, no-store

Partially updates a holiday: absent keys are untouched, and an explicit `null` clears `default_month`, `default_day` or `recurrence_interval`.

`sort_order` is not writable: holidays are reordered in plnnrly. Send `If-Match` with the `ETag` from your last read to detect a concurrent edit, which answers `412`.

## Parameters
- holiday (integer, path): The Holiday's numeric id.
- view (string, optional): Which field set to render.
- X-Request-Id (header, optional): A correlation id of your own. It is recorded in our logs next to the server's request id but never returned: the response header always carries the server's id. A value that does not match the pattern is discarded silently, never rejected.
- If-Match (header, optional): The ETag a write is conditional on. A stale validator is 412 precondition-failed.

## Request body
- name (string ≤ 255, optional): Name of the holiday, e.g. Nieuwjaarsdag.
- default_month (integer or null 1 to 12, optional): Month the holiday normally falls in, 1-12. Null means the holiday moves from year to year (Easter, say), and the organisation fills the date in per year on the free day itself.
- default_day (integer or null 1 to 31, optional): Day of the month the holiday normally falls on, 1-31, paired with `default_month`. Null means the day is not fixed.
- recurrence_interval (integer or null 1 to 255, optional): How often the holiday repeats, in years: `null` is not recurring, 1 is yearly, and n repeats every n years.

Unknown keys are refused with `422` validation-failed, naming the key.

## Response 200
- id (integer, required): Unique identifier.
- name (string ≤ 255, required): Name of the holiday, e.g. Nieuwjaarsdag.
- default_month (integer or null, required): Month the holiday normally falls in, 1-12. Null means the holiday moves from year to year (Easter, say), and the organisation fills the date in per year on the free day itself.
- default_day (integer or null, required): Day of the month the holiday normally falls on, 1-31, paired with `default_month`. Null means the day is not fixed.
