PATCH/workflow-transitions/{workflow_transition}

Update a workflow transition

PATCHhttps://<your-url>/api/v2/workflow-transitions/{workflow_transition}

MCP id workflow-transitions.updateAlso on this path: GET Read a workflow transition, DELETE Delete a workflow transition

View as Markdown openapi.json

Partially updates a workflow transition: absent keys are untouched, an empty body is rejected.

Access

Token scope
api:write:workflows

Without it: 403 insufficient-token-scope.

Permission
workflows::update

Without it: 403 insufficient-permission.

Feature
Needs the sprints feature on your organisation.

Without it: 404 endpoint-not-found.

Rate cost
1 unit, write bucket. A write costs the same whatever view you ask for.
Also
Accepts If-Match. Never cached: private, no-store. Unknown body keys are refused, never dropped.

Both are checked, scope first. A token never does more than its user. How access is checked

workflow_id is not accepted: an edge cannot be moved to another workflow, because its two statuses belong to the one it was created in. The two status fields must be sent together or not at all, and they must differ; both are checked against the transition's own workflow. Send If-Match with the ETag from your last read to detect a concurrent edit, which answers 412. Treat it as best-effort only: this resource carries no concurrency token, and updated_at is second-precision, so two writes inside the same second are indistinguishable.

Request body

Unknown keys are refused with 422, naming the key.
